When we find ourselves in a desolate land, look ahead to the hope that approaches.

The cross is the ultimate sacrifice. The cross overcame death.

Up at the top of a volcano stands a cross. Both the mark of death and the mark of new life. Standing above the smoke and ash, it symbolizes hope, of new life for eternity.

For some, the cross is the symbol of the gift of salvation, when Jesus Christ died on the cross and overcame death.
